Girls In Tech Hack is a code and no-code hackathon designed for middle and high school female-identifying students, trans and non-binary included, from diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Our goal is to create spaces where all students are inspired to learn new skills while collaborating on innovative projects.

Intro to UI and UX
Christina is a designer, sometimes a developer. She designs security software at Cisco, and previously worked on design systems at RBC Royal Bank. She's also a current student at OCAD University in Toronto, Canada, in the undergraduate Digital Futures program. Fun fact – she's the creator of the "insta stories" Snapchat filter, which has 200,000+ plays.

Clara collaborates with bright, curious minds at Figma to enable design teams to deepen their craft and scale design at their companies. Though embedded in the digital space throughout the week, she has a love of all things print—letter-pressed goods, stationary, books, etc. She loves learning from and with others, and is always open to chat!
Michele currently works at Amazon within the Device Design Group and is responsible for designing experiences across Alexa enabled devices. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a focus in User Experience design, and is a former Amazon UX Design Intern. As a native San Franciscan, Michele was part of the graduating class at Lick-Wilmerding in 2015 and seeks out burritos in the Mission whenever she's back home.
Creating Strong Pitches
Dr. Sarah Lewis Cortes is a Privacy Engineering and Assurance at Netflix, with responsibility for implements comprehensive privacy programs. She earned her undergraduate degree at Harvard University, studied Forensic Sciences at Boston University Medical School, and holds a PhD in Computer Science, Cybersecurity from Northeastern University, specializing in the Darknet, Privacy and Privacy Law as well as IT Security, topics on which she has published extensively. She conducts training and research with the FBI, the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Digital Forensics Crime Lab, and other LEAs. She has implemented and overseen major security and privacy programs and operations in regulated industries, achieving compliance in SOC2, SOX, PCI and GDPR, and other laws and regulation and IT control frameworks.
Youth Female Empowerment
Izzy Lapidus is an astrophysics researcher and outspoken advocate for gender equality in STEM. As a 17 year old, Izzy interned in the Department of Astrophysics at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in NYC where she conducted research on brown dwarf binaries. Her team created their own algorithm in Python to analyze telescope images of brown dwarf binary candidates taken from the VLT. In February 2020, her team discovered brown dwarf 2M2351B, the companion brown dwarf to 2M2351A! Following this discovery, they determined that binary system 2M2351AB is 66 light-years from Earth, which is equivalent to traveling from Earth to the Sun 4,158 times. Fun fact: this discovery was made through an error in her team's code!
Eva Sasson is a marketing leader, impact investor, and startup advisor with 10 years of experience in technology marketing. Sasson grew her career on the marketing teams at Google, popular developer platforms Twilio, Sentry, and currently is the Head of Marketing at New York-based fintech startup Argyle. Sasson is passionate about supporting and promoting women in technology, managing several programs for girls and women in tech spanning from London to New York to San Francisco, and currently manages an impact-investment fund Primera Impact. A Bay Area native, Sasson holds a BA from Barnard College and a MSc from University College London. For fun, Sasson likes to make collage art, buy vegetables at farmer's markets, and take puppy Mikka for a walk.

Ms. Torres has been teaching mathematics for over 20 years. She is a strong proponent of supporting and encouraging young women to explore the many learning possibilities available in the field of technology which is why she loves being an advisor for their school’s Girls in Tech Club. Outside of school, she loves to travel and is excited about her future move to Spain where she and her husband will be closeing a B&B.
Mr. Sasson teaches creative code and design, with an enthusiasm for imaginative projects in technology. He is a strong advocate of representation in tech, having worked in technology for multiple startups, and so is delighted to serve as advisor and cheerleader for the Girls in Tech Club. Outside of school Mr. Sasson is an avid baker, and does plenty of running and hiking to support this confectionary habit.
